I know you have everything laid out, but I guess I was hoping we readers might have a chance to work WITH you to weave the tale....
While I totally don’t want to stifle yours or anyone else’s creativity, crafting and writing the story is one of the most enjoyable parts for us as the creators. As a group, writing this story together is something that’s both enjoyable and meaningful, it’s part of our close bond as friends and while sometimes the grunt work of a comic can be daunting, I think I can easily speak for all of us when I say, that if it means we get to tell this story we made, it makes the hard work worth it.
I think it’s super awesome to have fans that are interested in the characters and the story we’re making, and everyone’s comments and excitement inspires us to keep going. But in the end, in order to write a great story, a person has to know where it’s going. I can’t exactly expect a fan to know how Amical would react to something without knowing about his past, and if you don’t know what’s going to happen later in the story, foreshadowing becomes nearly impossible. Writing requires a lot of intimate knowledge of the characters that won’t be revealed for a long time, and as a fan, even if spoilers sound fun now, it probably won’t be as fun once you know what happens for the next year. It’d make the comic a lot less engaging.
We very much enjoy seeing what people do with our plot and our characters, but we don’t need any help with official writing, drawing, composing, etc. If you have fun ideas, we’d never discourage you writing fan fiction, making wild speculative theories, making jokes, making AU ideas, or making any kind of fanart at all. Fan work is fun, and we treasure it.
